REPORT: Chelsea Lining Up Loan Swap Deal For Prolific Argentinian Ace

Chelsea and AC Milan are in talks over a swap deal for Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports in Italy.

There are believed to be two separate plans being explored. The first would see Morata join the Rossoneri for the next 18 months on loan while Higuain moves to Stamford Bridge for the next six months with an option to buy in the summer.

The second idea would see both clubs taking the other’s striker for the rest of the season before deciding on permanent deals in June. Neither plan has reportedly been agreed as of yet with Higuain’s parent club Juventus needing to approve any deal.

The Argentinian signed from the Bianconeri on an initial season-long loan in the summer, with Milan having to pay €18m for the temporary move. A €36m fee has been agreed to make the switch permanent in the summer, which Juve would almost certainly want to be redeemed by Chelsea if the loan swap between Higuain and Morata is made.

The Rossoneri striker worked with Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri for one season at Napoli where the 31-year-old scored 36 league goals, equalling the highest number in the history of Serie A.
