REPORT: Chelsea International Star Set To Depart The Club On Transfer

Chelsea superstar Kai Havertz is set to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window of 2023, according to a tweet from journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Havertz has struggled at Chelsea this season. It isn’t all his fault – he has been required to play as an auxiliary striker, a role he is clearly uncomfortable in, due to Chelsea’s lack of option in that area of the pitch.

Furthermore, the Blues have a surplus of attacking midfielders, thanks to their profligate spending in the last two transfer windows. As such, they will need to balance the books – Havertz will likely be a casualty of this.

Who is interested in Kai Havertz of Chelsea?

In Romano’s tweet, he wrote: “Fair to say Chelsea and Kai Havertz are on same page. Club prepared to let him leave — while Havertz is open to trying new chapter elsewhere. Chelsea hope for more clubs to join the race in the next days after Real Madrid interest registered last week.”

As things stand, the only club to have registered an explicit interest in Havertz is Real Madrid. While Chelsea ‘hope’ that other clubs will look to bring the German gem to the club, nothing official has been noted as of yet. Additionally, it is also unclear how much Chelsea will charge for the player.

Kai Havertz career summary

After spells in the academies of Alemannia Mariadorf and Alemannia Aachen, Havertz joined the youth setup of Bayer Leverkusen at the age of eleven. He made his first-team debut for the club in 2016, making him the (at the time) youngest player to ever play in the Bundesliga at 17 years and 126 days of age.

A successful four years with Leverkusen saw him transferred to Chelsea in 2020 – his most notable achievement with the Blues came when he scored the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City.
