REPORT: Chelsea Have Offered 173K A Week Contract To Serie A Star

Chelsea have made a contract offer worth €10.5m (£9m) a season to AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to Libero.

The Milan-based newspaper claims that the Italian international is the “number one” priority for the Blues ahead of the summer transfer window.

Donnarumma’s contract at the San Siro expires in June and he is free to discuss terms with other clubs but recent claims by reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano suggested that the 22-year-old would be staying in Italy.

However, it appears that Chelsea have made a formal contract proposal to the player. The offer, which works out at roughly £173,000 a week, isn’t a high salary by Premier League standards but it may be more than Milan can afford.

Libero‘s description of it being a “monstrous figure” indicates Chelsea are going all-in to get Donnarumma. Whether this report turns out to be accurate, we shall see. It would contradict Romano so it’s probably best to take the story with a pinch of salt.
