REPORT: Chelsea Enter Race To Sign £27m Rated Brazilian Wonderkid

Chelsea are considering making a move for Santos forward Kaio Jorge, according to Kicker. The German magazine believes Bayer Leverkusen and the Blues are both keeping tabs on the 18-year-old.

Back in March, Santos president Jose Carlos Peres confirmed that Juventus were the team leading the battle to sign the teenager, with negotiations over a €30m (£27m) transfer taking place:

“It is not a secret that there is interest, but I don’t want to be caught off guard. If the right offers do not arrive within a deadline that we will establish, we will keep him until the end of the season.”

“Juventus asked about him, but made no formal offer. I told them his release clause is €75m, but we are open to negotiation. We were discussing closer to €30m, but not just with Juve.”

However, the financial impact of the global health crisis has changed the situation and Kicker now report that other teams such as Leverkusen and Chelsea may take advantage.

Jorge won the Bronze Ball at the Under 17 World Cup last year, scoring five goals and providing one assist as Brazil won the tournament in their own country.

The striker has also made an impact at club level, having scored his first senior goal for Santos back in March. He came on as a substitute in the Copa Libertadores group stage match against Defensa y Justicia, scoring a late winner.
