REPORT: Chelsea And City Have ‘Signaled Interest’ In Ligue One Star Who Could Be Signed For Just 5M

Chelsea and Manchester City have both “signaled interest” in Lens wingback Jonathan Clauss, according to Kicker.

The German magazine claims that the two English sides, along with Sevilla and a Turkish club are keeping tabs on the 28-year-old, who could be sold for between €6m (£5m) and €10m (£8.6m) this summer.

Clauss has enjoyed a productive season for Lens, having scored three goals and provided seven assists in 34 appearances. Due to the fact that he is most comfortable as a wingback, it is a clear indication that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is ready to continue with the 3-4-3 system that has brought him success since his arrival at Stamford Bridge back in January.

Currently, Tuchel is employing Reece James in that position, but Callum Hudson-Odoi has more often than not been used as his understudy. With the winger clearly more comfortable further up the pitch, it seems the Blues’ scouting department has been tasked with finding an economical option to provide cover on the right flank.
