Atletico Madrid will look to offer club-record signing Joao Felix in an attempt to persuade Chelsea into selling Mason Mount. That is the sensational claim made by Spanish rumour mongers Diario Gol.
There have been reports that Mount is unsettled at Stamford Bridge, with negotiations over a new contract seemingly not going well. However, those stories have been refuted by others.
Diario Gol have added further controversy by suggesting that Atletico boss Diego Simeone is very keen to sign Mount for the La Liga champions as he looks to build a squad capable of dominating rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona for years to come.
The website do, however, say that Chelsea deem Mount as “non-transferable” but Atletico are hoping the inclusion of Felix in their proposal could tempt the Blues.
The Portuguese international was signed for €120m in 2019 but has, so far, failed to live up to expectations, having scored just 20 goals and provided 11 assists in 87 appearances.
It’s probably wise to file this transfer rumour under “very unlikely” but it is still a rather surprising story nonetheless.
