Relief For Chelsea’s De Bruyne After Injury Scare

Kevin De Bruyne had an awkward fall just after scoring the second goal for his side in their 4-1 win against Malaysia XI. He did not expect that to happen after a well taken goal, as he lay on the pitch, gesturing to the touch line regarding his need to receive some medical attention. He then had to be stretchered off making it look as though he would be on the treatment table for some time. It was all the more disappointing because he was in fine form, and it was looking like he was poised to earn an extended run in the first team in the initial months of next season.

However, Mourinho’s fears have now evaporated into thin air as Daily Mail reports that the club’s medical team have some good news that his injury is a fraction of what they initially feared as his scans from London reveal no serious damage. So much so, that he is also expected to rejoin the team on their pre-season tour in USA. A delighted De Bruyne took to Twitter where he revealed the good news as he tweeted, ‘Knee and ankle feeling ok for the moment. Always stay positive. Waiting for tomorrow. Then we will know more. Thanks for all the messages.’

Mourinho too was a relieved man as he spoke about his injury scare as he said, “When he was on the floor and asking for a change, everybody on the bench, we thought the worst.”

“The first assessment by the doctor was that it was not the ligaments for sure and if it is something in the meniscus, then it has to be a very small injury.”

“So we believe it is not an important injury and hopefully it isn’t because the kid is a fantastic player and is showing to you match after match and showing to me in training that he is going to be a key man on the pitch.”

It is great news for Chelsea fans to see their young forward back in action so much sooner than they expected. Considering De Bruyne was due to be part of the Schurrle deal, we can be thankful that he was not loaned out and that he is not seriously injured as he seems to be another exceptional young Belgian talent ready to help the Blues’ assault on the Barclays Premier League.
