Reliable Journalist Confirms Chelsea Are In The ‘Advanced’ Stages Of Signing 27 Cap International Defender

Talks between Chelsea and Manchester City about signing defender Nathan Ake are pretty “advanced”, according to journalist Nizaar Kinsella.

The Evening Standard‘s Blues correspondent claims that the transfer fee is unlikely to be a barrier in negotiations for the Dutchman, who has been capped 27 times by his country:

The Citizens want to recoup the £41m they paid Bournemouth for Ake two years ago but such a figure won’t put off Chelsea from agreeing a deal for the centre-back.

However, the major issue at the moment is that City want to bring in a replacement before allowing Ake to leave the Etihad Stadium. That means there could be a long delay in the deal being completed.

The Premier League champions have just signed Kalvin Phillips from Leeds but their next priority is believed to be Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella. Currently, it is not clear when City will make a move to recruit a centre-half
