Jamie Redknapp is backing Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount to get into double figures for the Blues after an excellent start to the season in front of goal.
The 20-year-old already has four goals from his first 11 appearances this campaign, and Redknapp believes the England international has the finishing ability to get on the scoresheet regularly for his club over the coming months:
“To be a top team, you have to have a goal-scoring midfielder. They had one of the best ever in Frank Lampard. Now they’ve got this young kid [Mount] who has four goals.”
“I don’t want to put too much pressure on him but he’s got to get to at least double figures this season. The way he finishes is so composed. He’s ice-cool in front of goal. He’s just a good player.”
Mount has been seriously impressive when putting away chances so far this season, and it must be said that if Chelsea continue to create the number of opportunities they have been making recently, the midfielder could end up being one of the club’s top goalscorers.
Of course, that is dependent on form, but no matter where manager Frank Lampard has selected him in the side, he seems to come up with the goods. There is potential for him to improve as well so the future is looking very bright indeed.
