Real Madrid President Provides Latest Update On Hazard’s Move

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has said the Spanish club are working hard to sign Chelsea attacking midfielder Eden Hazard this summer.

The Belgian is entering the last 12 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge, and Perez says he is hoping the 28-year-old will finally sign after a pursuit that has lasted a number of years:

“I am very interested in him coming to Real Madrid and I am very hopeful that he will come this year. He is one of the best in the world. We’ve been trying for a number of years to make Eden Hazard a Real Madrid player. We tried to get him last season but it was not possible.”

Hazard has also hinted in recent days that tomorrow’s Europa League final against Arsenal will be his last game for the club.

The winger said a win in Baku would be a “perfect farewell” after his seven years spent at Chelsea. However, it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can come to an agreement over a transfer fee.

Reports in the UK suggest the Blues are now demanding £130m for the forward, despite the player being able to to talk to clubs in just 7 months time about a free transfer.

It will be interesting to see whether Chelsea stick to their asking price until the transfer window closes.
