Ramires Targets World Cup Spot

Ramires Targets World Cup Spot

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea midfielder Ramires is eyeing a spot in the Brazilian national side for the FIFA World Cup with the help of his impressive performances until the end of the season.

The World Cup is fast approaching and with international friendlies almost finished taking place, national managers are beginning to finalise their final 23 man squads for the competition. The hosts Brazil will be under immense pressure to perform well, and every potential squad member will look to give their best in the last phase of the league competitions.

Ramires arrived at Chelsea as a defensive minded midfielder, but has developed an attacking instinct over his seasons in London. The 26-year old was left out of the Brazilian squad that participated in the Confederations Cup last year, but hopes to be on a plane home this summer. Luis Felipe Scolari has Tottenham Hotspur pair Paulinho and Sandro as options in Ramires’ position, alongside his Chelsea team mate Oscar.

With Chelsea’s surge for the Barclays Premier League in full swing, a title win will inevitably help the player’s chances of selection.
