Pulisic To Start And Mount To Drop Out: Chelsea’s Predicted XI To Face Liverpool

Chelsea will want to recover quickly from their heavy loss to Manchester United at the weekend. Manager Frank Lampard would have probably preferred an easier opponent than Liverpool, but with a trophy up for grabs, the team won’t be short of motivation to put in an improved performance.

The Blues have been handed a double boost heading into the game with both Willian and Antonio Rudiger in the squad for the Super Cup clash, but neither are expected to start in Istanbul.

N’Golo Kante picked up a knock versus United and he will likely miss out against Liverpool, so Lampard may be tempted to pick the same starting line up that he chose for the opening game.

The Chelsea manager may look to be more pragmatic, though, and picking Ross Barkley on the left-hand side, with Trent Alexander-Arnold lining up against him, may not be the best idea defensively.

Lampard could move the 25-year-old centrally and sacrifice Mason Mount, and look to play a recognised winger from the left-hand side. Christian Pulisic could be drafted in for his first start.

Chelsea’s Predicted XI To Face Liverpool:

Kepa, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Christensen, Emerson, Jorginho, Kovacic, Pedro, Barkley, Pulisic, Abraham
