Premier League Players Out of Contract in June

Premier League Players Out of Contract in June

We’ve seen waves upon waves of talented footballers come and go in England’s top division. Here we take a look at some of the Premier League players out of contract in June as their time at their current clubs could end this summer or even this January, assuming their respective clubs choose to not renew them on long term deals.

They’re from a variety of clubs, with two of them currently playing for Chelsea. Would you like to see either of the two stay on at Stamford Bridge for another season?

6. Roberto Firmino

Firmino has enjoyed eight fruitful seasons at Liverpool, scoring 107 goals across 348 games. However, with the Brazilian’s contract up in the summer, this campaign may be his last.

At 31, he isn’t getting any younger and Jurgen Klopp’s high intensity pressing style may begin to take a toll on his ageing legs. Additionally, Liverpool have already seemingly replaced him with the addition of Darwin Nunez.

5. N’Golo Kante

The first of two Chelsea players on this list, Kante was once regarded as the world’s leading defensive midfielder. Despite this, he has fallen out of the spotlight in recent years.

Injuries have limited his Premier League appearances this year to just two. Additionally, he also missed out France’s World Cup squad due to his lack of fitness due to the serious nature of his injury.

4. Leandro Trossard

Leandro Trossard has been sensational for Brighton this season, who themselves have also been playing beyond expectations. So far in 2022/23, he’s already scored seven goals and registered two assists for the south coast side.

Due to his impressive recent performances, plenty of clubs are circling for the Seagulls superstar. Will he remain at the Falmer Stadium for another season, or will he be shipped out elsewhere?

3. Wilfried Zaha

A name that needs no introduction for football fans in England – Zaha has been electrifying crowds at Selhurst Park ever since his arrival. A Crystal Palace legend, the Eagles would certainly be sad to see him go – but with his contract up in the summer, his days at the club could numbered.

Despite his unsuccessful spell at Manchester United (which coincided with Sir Alex Ferguson who signed him leaving), Saha has been linked with a move away from South London seemingly every time the transfer window has been active. At the age of 30, his best years may be behind him, however he still looks to be at the peak of his powers and Palace will likely do everything they can to keep him.

2. Youri Tielemans

Youri Tielemans has been a Leicester City player since 2019 – with his contract set to run out in the summer, this season could be his last at the King Power Stadium. It’s been an eclectic year for the Foxes, who currently sit in 13th place.

Tielemans has become renowned for his passing, creativity and ability on the ball. He’s not the most energetic of central midfielders, but he makes up for it with excellent technical skills and has a serious admirer in Mikel Arteta so don’t be surprised to see him end up in North London at Arsenal or at arch-rivals Spurs.

1. Jorginho

Once a contender for the Ballon D’or, Italian midfield stalwart Jorginho will become a free agent in the summer if Chelsea let his contract expire. The Blues’ plans for him are currently unclear, but at 31, looking at their transfer policy under new owner Todd Boehly it looks likely they may be looking to continue investing in new blood.

Jorginho’s contributions as a footballer often go unnoticed. His movement to provide passing options to his teammates is outstanding, as are his energy levels. He’s an underrated talent, but it would not be surprising to see Chelsea let him go in the summer.

It’s gonna be an interesting period here in January as clubs may look to cash in the players above rather than lose them for nothing in the summer.
