Premier League Match Preview And Latest Injury News For The Crunch Clash Between Liverpool And Chelsea

Chelsea travel to Anfield for a 5.30pm kick-off on Saturday, November 25th and it is Jurgen Klopp’s team which holds the upper hand in recent meetings between the two teams.

Chelsea are coming into the game on the back of a 4-0 thumping of Qarabag in the Champions League on Wednesday in Baku having qualified for the knockout round.

Liverpool on the other hand come into the match on the back of a morale-depleting 3-3 tie with Sevilla in the Champions League in Spain as they surrendered a 3-0 lead to leave their knock-out round qualification in the balance.

Chelsea have not beaten Jurgen Klopp’s men in the Premier League for over three years and when the Blues did win it took goals from the now-departed Diego Costa and Gary Cahill to claim the points.

Of course the Blues can now turn to record summer transfer signing Alvaro Morata who has scored 2 goals in his last 3 games and has 10 goals across the 18 appearances he has made for both club and country so far this season.

When the Spanish striker is continuously being supplied with good service from the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard he is going to score in bunches as he already looks acclimatised to the Premier League and British football.

If Liverpool can defeat Antonio Conte’s side it would move them ahead of their rivals but a loss could be very damaging for Jurgen Klopp so it will be interesting to see how he approaches the game.

An interesting question is whether Klopp selects former Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge who must surely at least be on the bench as he would have a point to prove to people on so many levels from Gareth Southgate with the World Cup in Russia next year and former club Chelsea but most importantly to his own manager as he rarely starts for Klopp.

Liverpool could be without Joel Matip who has a thigh strain, although the Reds could be welcoming back a man that can make a difference as Adam Lallana could be fit for selection. Right-back Nathaniel Clyne is still sidelined after minor back surgery.

For Chelsea both Victor Moses (hamstring) and Michy Batshauyi (ankle) could feature but are likely a game away from making the first team line-up but could feature from the bench depending how they feel.

Liverpool are unbeaten in 5 matches in all competitions winning 4 with 1 draw while Chelsea have 4 wins with 1 loss in their most recent 5 matches in all competitions.
