Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Barcelona attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho if they can’t secure a deal for Jadon Sancho this summer.

Manchester United are said to be the favourites for the Borussia Dortmund winger, and if he were to move to Old Trafford, the Blues are putting contingency plans in place.

Coutinho is very likely to be available with Bayern Munich not expected to take up their option to sign the player on a permanent basis.

Reports in Spain suggest that the former Liverpool player could be available for around £70m to £80m, but there are question marks about his form.

Coutinho’s performances for Bayern have been patchy, although his statistics do show he can provide a cutting edge in the final third of the pitch.

The 27-year-old has scored nine goals and contributed eight assists in 32 appearances this campaign. Even so, the question remains whether he would be a better signing than Sancho. Have your say in the poll below:
