Pochettino Has ‘Made It Clear’ That He Wants To Build His New Chelsea Team Around 5 Players

Incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has “made it clear” that he admires five players in the Blues’ current squad, according to The Independent.

The website claims the Argentine is keen to build a team that is “energetic” and possesses a high work rate. Consequently, he has already identified certain Chelsea stars that fit within that remit.

Reece James, Wesley Fofana and Ben Chilwell, Enzo Fernandez and Mason Mount are all expected to feature heavily in Pochettino’s plans following his appointment.

Of course, with Mount, there remains a sizeable possibility that he will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season because of his contract situation.

Pochettino has prioritised keeping the England international but some reports suggest his intervention may have come too late, with the midfielder expected to press for a transfer this summer.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are all believed to be keen on snapping up Mount if Pochettino fails in persuading the 24-year-old to stay.
