Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy made five saves as the Blues kept a clean sheet in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Porto last night.
Some had criticised the Senegalese international for his part in Matheus Pereira’s equaliser for West Brom at the weekend but he was very much back to his best yesterday evening.
With Mendy’s help, the Blues will take a two-goal lead heading into the match next week and supporters on Twitter were quick to credit the 29-year-old for the part he played:
He… is….. phenomenal.

The shot-stopper’s record speaks for itself. He has an extremely impressive 21 clean sheets in 34 appearances for Chelsea, conceding only 23 goals in the process.
Mendy has certainly proven to be a very reliable number one in the short time he has been at Stamford Bridge. A lot of the credit for the signing has to go to Petr Cech, with the club legend having recommended him to previous coach Frank Lampard.
