Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson is expecting Chelsea to get back to winning ways against Crystal Palace today.

The Blues are coming into the game off the back of another poor result versus Fulham, but Merson feels that manager Graham Potter has been somewhat unlucky and he believes that the home side will secure the three points this afternoon:

“Potter’s got to have some confidence in his players. He’s changing so much every week that his team can’t get settled. Chelsea have also been unlucky with their fixture list. If they’d played a couple of kinder fixtures, we would have been looking at this very differently. I’m going to back Chelsea to win this game.”

Merson has gone with a 2-0 win to Chelsea which is a rather optimistic prediction, considering the way things have been going under Potter recently.

Palace are, however, in the middle of a terrible run of form themselves, so Merson may be on to something.  Patrick Vieira’s team have lost all four matches since the return to domestic action on Boxing Day.

They have conceded eleven goals and scored just once, and in their last game, they were knocked out of the FA Cup by bottom of the table Southampton. With everything being equal then, Chelsea should have a good chance of getting a victory.
