Chelsea turns their attention to the Europa Conference League this week as they face a trip to Athens. 

The Blues face Panathinaikos for what is their second Europa Conference League game of the season on Thursday night after an opening game win 4-2 against Gent.

Enzo Maresca’s side come off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield where a Nicolas Jackson goal wasn’t enough to overcome the Reds.

Liverpool’s two goals came from Mo Salah and Curtis Jones in a game that left Arne Slot’s side top of the Premier League. Meanwhile, Chelsea sit in sixth after what was their first defeat since the opening day of the season against Manchester City.

They face a Panathinaikos side this week who sit sixth in the Greek Super League on 12 points from their opening eight matches.

The Blues are in a good position injury wise as it is just goalkeeper Filip Jorgenson who is 50/50 to be in the Chelsea squad for the Europa Conference League game on Thursday.

Chelsea backed as favourites in Europa Conference League clash

The Blues are unsurprisingly backed as the favourites to win against the Greek side on Thursday as Enzo Maresca’s side look to make it two wins from two in the Conference League.

According to Oddschecker, Chelsea are 7/12 favourites to win giving them a 58.3% chance of victory at the Olympic Stadium. Meanwhile a Panathinaikos win is backed at 5/1 (16.7%) and a draw at 17/5 (22.7%).

We predict a 2-0 win for the Blues as they then pay their attention to a tough Premier League game against Newcastle United at the weekend.
