Owen Makes His Prediction For Chelsea’s Game Against Newcastle

Former England international Michael Owen is expecting Chelsea to come out on top when they face Newcastle at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The TV pundit says the Magpies performed well to win against Manchester United in their last game but he can’t see them getting a result against a vibrant and young Blues side:

“Newcastle were outstanding against a poor Manchester United side at St James’ Park in their last game and thoroughly deserved the points, although I think they will do well to keep this exciting young Chelsea side at arm’s length at Stamford Bridge.”

“Chelsea have won their last four games in all competitions and look full of goals at present. Frank Lampard’s side have come a long way in a short space of time since their heavy opening-weekend defeat at Old Trafford.”

Chelsea do have some injury problems heading into the game which may hinder their chances of getting a result.

Manager Frank Lampard currently has eight players who are on the treatment table, although the likes of Emerson Palmieri (thigh) and Antonio Rudger (groin) could be back in the matchday squad on Saturday.

Still, you would expect the home side to have enough to overcome Newcastle, who have scored three and conceded eleven in their first four away games, picking up a solitary win at Tottenham. Chelsea, meanwhile, have not lost since the defeat to Liverpool last month.
