It`s been a hard season for midfielders Cesc Fabregas and Oscar who haven’t found their place in Conte’s current formation. Unfortunately, both have played a combined 14 games half of which are in the EFL. It is only normal to have rumors flying around especially given the fact that both players have quite the impressive resumes.

Here is what Conte said as reported by ESPN:

“For me, Oscar is an important player in the squad. He’s in good form. It’s logical I have to take the starting XI every week, but Oscar is a great player. For me, he stays at Chelsea.

“It’s important that this message arrives for all. But Oscar will stay with us because I consider him an important player for Chelsea.”

“We have a complete squad,” Conte added. “It’s normal that, during a season, it can happen that there are some injuries. But now we have a good squad to have some substitutions if there are some injuries.

“I see a chance to build something important with Chelsea here, a new method and philosophy. These are the most important things.

“Then it’s logical, when you play this championship, that you want to fight until the end. To win the title, or for a place in the Champions League. But, for me now, I don’t talk about this. It’s important now to work with the players, to continue to build something of important for Chelsea for the present and the future.”

Even with all of this, it`s difficult to know what happens especially when it comes to Fabregas. The Spaniard has played at the top level his entire adult life and he still has a few good years in him. If he does stay with Chelsea it will probably be until the end of the season and no longer than that. As far as Oscar’s future goes, there are chances to see him around for the next couple of seasons as he is still young and has time to make his way back into the starting eleven.

Antonio Conte will likely keep the two players around for this season as he clearly feels there could be roles for the two in his campaign to win the Premier League as injuries could well influence the outcome of the season for the Blues.
