Ornstein Update Suggests Chelsea Now Have Massive Advantage In Battle To Sign 86M Summer Target

Manchester United have paused their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

The former BBC reporter says the Red Devils are now prioritising a striker and a centre-back next summer. If that is indeed true then Chelsea could be the new favourites to sign Sancho.

At the weekend it was reported that the Blues are interested in signing the England international and his teammate Erling Haaland in a €200m (£173m) double deal.

Additionally, claims in the German press over the past month have suggested Sancho’s value has dropped from €120m (£104m) last summer to €100m (£86m) so that could also tempt Chelsea into making a move.

Whether manager Thomas Tuchel sees signing another winger as a priority, it remains to be seen, but it seems clear that there is a clear path for the London club to secure Sancho’s signature at the end of the season.
