Mykhailo Mudryk’s former youth coach at Shakhtar Donetsk says he has doubts over whether the Ukrainian made the right choice in joining Chelsea.
Andres Carrasco believes the winger’s attributes would have been better suited to Arsenal, and he is reserving judgement on whether he will be a success at Stamford Bridge:
“This is a club that has been changing recently,But it is good for Mudryk to be in a club that always expects maximum results. Now, he needs to go through a period of adaptation. And only time will tell if it was the right decision for him or not. Today, Arsenal, with its style of play, could be more suitable for Mudryk, who successfully uses dribbling and plays one-on-one. It would be better for him, in my opinion.”
The Gunners are a well-oiled machine at the moment so it is likely that Mudryk would have found it easier to hit the ground running with Mikel Arteta’s side.
However, that doesn’t mean the 21-year-old can’t succeed at Chelsea as well. The Blues are going through a transition period but some bold decisions in the transfer market should get the team moving back up the table in the not too distant future.
It will be up to manager Graham Potter to get the best out of Mudryk and the other talented individuals that have been brought to the club since the summer.
