“Only A Matter Of Time” – Pochettino Makes Exciting Prediction About £89M Player

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino says he is expecting Mykhailo Mudryk to overcome his difficult start at Stamford Bridge.

The Ukrainian international has flattered to deceive since making the €100m (£89m) switch from Shakhtar Donetsk in January but Pochettino says the talent that the winger possesses means it is “only a matter of time” before we see the best of him:

“He’s a young player and a player that has a lot of talent. I think he needs to build his continuity and trust [with his team-mates], work hard in the training sessions during the week and continue to show he is ready to perform.”

“We need to also build that trust with him and he needs to build it with us as part of the team, as is the same with many of our younger players. It will take a little time but there is no doubting [that] he has enormous talent and quality and it’s only a matter of time before he settles into the team on a regular basis.”

Mudryk is clearly low on confidence

There was one telling moment in the second half against West Ham last weekend where the 21-year-old fluffed a gilt-edged opportunity. Instead of burying his chance, he sliced his shot and the ball ended up heading towards the corner flag.

You can clearly see that Mudryk is struggling for confidence currently, and it is not a surprise that Pochettino has opted to keep him out of the limelight in the early weeks of the season.

The Blues boss doesn’t seem to be giving up on the winger, though, and it will be interesting to see if he starts the London club’s next game.
