Chelsea have kept in contact with the representatives of AC Milan winger Rafael Leao, according to journalist Carlo Garganese.
The Blues tried to sign the pacey Portuguese forward last summer but Garganese says the Blues are “still in talks” along with the likes of Real Madrid:
“Leao’s contract runs out in 2024. Chelsea, they’re still in touch, they’re one of the main clubs, but they’re not the only club that are interested in him. Real Madrid are also interested in him as well.”
Earlier this month, AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini revealed that the Serie A champions had failed to agree a contract with Leao ahead of the World Cup.
The Rossoneri wanted to get a deal in place ahead of the January transfer window, but they did not manage to get the player’s signature.
Leao will have eighteen months left on his current contract in the New Year, and it has been suggested that Milan will lower their price tag for the player to €80m (£69m) if it becomes clear that he is unwilling to sign an extension. We shall see how this transfer story unfolds.
