One Chelsea Star Scores But Another Is Injured In Latest Round Of International Matches

Chelsea vice-captain Jorginho scored a penalty to open the scoring for Italy in their 2-0 win over Poland in the Nations League last night.

The 28-year-old has been taken off spot-kicks for the Blues after missing two in a row, but he didn’t have any trouble slotting past Wojciech Szczesny in Poland’s goal midway through the first half.

Jacek Goralski was sent off for the Poles on 77 minutes before Domenico Berardi sealed the win for the Italians seven minutes from the end. It means Jorginho and his team need to win against Bosnia on Wednesday to guarantee qualification for the Nations League finals.

There wasn’t such good news for Ben Chilwell, though. The Chelsea left-back was taken off before half-time in England’s 2-0 defeat to Belgium yesterday evening. It is still not known how serious the injury is and manager Gareth Southgate said all he knows is that the 23-year-old had a back problem:

“He had some sort of issue with his back that he was complaining about and he didn’t feel he could carry on. Outside of that, I can’t give you any detail at the moment.”
