Chelsea remain interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard, according to Sky Sports Germany.
The Blues were heavily linked with the 26-year-old last summer, but it is claimed that the London club still have “him on the list” of targets ahead of the next transfer window.
Pavard will have twelve months remaining on his contract at the end of this season, and it is believed that negotiations over an extension haven’t progressed that far.
The Frenchman, who has been capped 47 times by his country, is currently earning just £85,000 a week at Bayern and it appears he is seeking a sizeable increase in his salary.
With captain Cesar Azpilicueta one of the players tipped to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, Pavard could be the ideal replacement. He is comfortable playing as a centre-half and at right-back.
There will, of course, be competition for the player, with Sky reporting that Inter Milan are expected to be Chelsea’s main rivals for the defender’s signature.
