Chelsea are weighing up a possible move for Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier, according to reports in the English media.
With Reece James expected to be sidelined for two months with a hamstring problem, a temporary replacement will need to be sought in the January transfer window.
Trippier is thought to be looking to make the switch back to the UK in order to be closer to his family and a lot of supporters on Twitter believe that the England international would be a good addition to the squad:
Not the worst idea with James out for so long

He’d genuinely be a very good rotation wing back, can play on both sides and is experienced, I’d prefer Traore or Mæhle but would be content with Trippier

This wouldn’t even be a bad signing. He’s been decent for Atletico

The Blues will have rivals for the 31-year-old’s signature. Newcastle are also keen on the defender, with it being reported that the Magpies have submitted a formal bid for the former Tottenham player.
Manchester United are also said to have a long-standing interest in Trippier but the fullback is believed to be Chelsea fan so he would likely prefer a switch to Stamford Bridge.
