‘No Need To Rush Him Back’ ‘We Need A CB In The Summer’ Fans React As Injury Setback To Key Chelsea Star Is Confirmed

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that both Thiago Silva and Tammy Abraham will miss this afternoon’s match against Leeds United.

The German revealed at his pre-match press conference yesterday that Silva had suffered a setback in training, while Abraham has yet to fully recover from the ankle injury that kept him out of the 2-0 win over Everton on Monday.

Fans on Twitter are slightly disappointed that Silva won’t be making his return at Elland Road, although they think Andreas Christensen’s recent performances mean the Brazilian won’t be missed as badly:

It will be interesting to see what happens when Silva is fully fit. Tuchel says he believes that the 36-year-old and Christensen can play in the same back three, although it is clear that both would favour the role in the middle.

The club’s defensive record since Tuchel’s arrival in January has been excellent so you would trust the German to make the right decision.
