No Mourinho Reunion – Sneijder

No Mourinho Reunion – Sneijder

The 29-year old worked under Mourinho during the duo’s time at Inter Milan. The partnership yielded significantly as Sneijder and Mourinho both progressed individually along with collectively winning several trophies for the Italian giants. Mourinho then moved onto Real Madrid and Sneijder switched to Turkish club Galatasaray last season.

Mourinho made a sensational return to former club Chelsea only recently and was then immediately linked to make a move for a host of players, Sneijder included. It is believed that the Portugese is looking to strengthen his midfield and attack ahead of next season and was thought to be keen on bringing the talent and experience of Sneijder to Stamford Bridge.

However that looks like a distant dream now as Sneijder has spoken about the rumors surrounding his future and has cleared the air by saying that he is not thinking about a summer move after just one season in Turkey, and that he is 100% committed to Galatasaray by expressing his desire to honor his contract. He was reported by Metro as saying, “I moved here for a new culture and to get to know a new culture, and I can’t forget that,”

“I have a good relationship with Mourinho and enjoyed working with them, but I love Istanbul and I owe a lot to Galatasaray.”

It looks like Chelsea will have to look elsewhere now, and they are already being linked to Sneijder’s national compatriot Marco van Ginkel of Vitesse Arnhem. The 20-year old is already being hailed as the new Sneijder and has interested Chelsea, who are thought to be preparing a £10 million deal for him since the Sneijder deal looks highly unlikely.

With Sneijder determined to stay put, do you think that this is a good decision? Would it be better for him to make a switch to English football when he can as he enters the last few years of his career, or will staying put at Galatasaray be the better choice for him?
