Nicholas Predicts How Chelsea Will Fare Against Lille Tonight

Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas is predicting a tight encounter when Chelsea travel to face Lille in the Champions League group stage match this evening.

He believes manager Frank Lampard will go for a more experienced line up than usual in order to get a result away from home, as the Blues looks to continue momentum following their win against Brighton at the weekend:

“This is a test for Chelsea. I think they may get something from this, but it will be a more experienced Chelsea side that we see.”

Nicholas has gone for a 1-1 draw, which is a fair shout, considering the French side’s home form this season. Christophe Galtier’s team have won all four league games at the Stade Pierre Mauroy Stadium, scoring nine and conceding just two.

The fact that they are only fourth in Ligue One is down to their wretched away form, so Lampard will be aware that Lille will provide a stern test for his young team.

A more experienced starting eleven may be a wise move, although it must be said that the best performers so far this campaign have been some of the young players so he may stick with putting his faith in youth.
