N’Golo Kante Delivers Worrying Response When Asked About His Chelsea Future

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has raised further doubts about his future at the club.

The Frenchman’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and when a fan shouted towards him that “we will see you next season”, he responded by saying:

“We’ll see.”

Contract talks were believed to be moving in the right direction, with respected journalists hinting that Kante was almost certain to stay at Stamford Bridge beyond this campaign.

However, earlier this month, the Daily Telegraph reporter Matt Law did suggest there are a couple of complicating matters that may have led to negotiations over a new deal stalling.

Uncertainty over the manager and Kante’s injury record

It is believed that Kante doesn’t want to put pen to paper on an extension until he knows who the next manager will be. With Mauricio Pochettino having now been confirmed, that should no longer be an issue, especially as it is thought that there is mutual admiration between the pair.

The 32-year-old’s injury problems are likely to be a more pressing concern. After missing most of a season with a serious hamstring injury, Kante then picked up a groin problem that meant he missed the end of the campaign. Chelsea are likely to have serious concerns about handing the player a lucrative new contract due to his fitness issues.
