Neville Predicts Whether Sarri Will Be Sacked By Chelsea Before The End Of The Season

TV pundit Gary Neville believes that Chelsea will keep faith with manager Maurizio Sarri until the end of the season.

The Blues suffered a disappointing 2-0 away defeat to Everton yesterday, seriously denting their chances of a top-four finish.

There have been reports that the London club’s board could make a managerial change during the international break, but Neville believes Chelsea will keep faith with the Italian, at least until the summer:

“It’ll be interesting at the end of the season, I think Sarri will get to the end of the season now which is a good thing, to see if they do believe in the style and they do believe in him.”

Sarri came out after the game to again question his side’s mental fragility, and Neville agrees with the assessment saying that the squad lacks the resilience and steeliness of past Chelsea teams.

The former Manchester United defender highlighted four characters that the Blues could do with having in their side at the moment:

“You think of [John] Terry and [Didier] Drogba and [Ricardo] Carvalho and that type of player that existed at this club. Diego Costa.”

“They just lack that little bit of something and when you watch them today, it’s a team that’s evolving, it’s a team that’s obviously different than how it’s been in the past.”

Whether Sarri is still in charge after the international break, it remains to be seen. Chelsea’s next game is against relegation-threatened Cardiff City on Sunday week.
