Napoli defender drops huge hint over future of Chelsea target Maurizio Sarri

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly believes Maurizio Sarri will be a huge success at Chelsea if he takes over from Antonio Conte this summer.

Sarri was let go from his job at Napoli at the end of last season, and has been heavily rumoured to be on his way to Stamford Bridge amidst uncertainty over the future of Conte.

While Sarri has been replaced by Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli, the 59-year-old remains contracted to the club and president chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis is demanding compensation before he releases the former Empoli boss.

Once a fee has been agreed between the two parties, it is believed Sarri will be appointed as Chelsea’s new boss, and Koulibaly, who played under Sarri for three seasons, says the Italian will be a big success at The Bridge.

“They [Chelsea] can expect nice football because he is a very good coach.” the Senegalese defender said.

“I’m disappointed that he leaves like this but we have now a big coach [Carlo Ancelotti]. We know we can win something with him.

“I hope he will win something with Chelsea because he’s a nice coach. When a coach like this comes he needs time. So I think they have to give him time because he will change the football of Chelsea, I think.

“At Napoli we enjoyed it very much as players and the supporters enjoyed it very much. At Chelsea I think it will be the same.”

Koulibaly himself has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, however Chelsea would reportedly have to pay in excess of €85 million for his signature.
