Moussa Dembele Opens Up On Future Following Chelsea And United Rumours

Moussa Dembele says he expects to stay at Lyon for the rest of the season, despite multiple reports linking him with moves to Chelsea and Manchester United.

Speaking after Lyon’s penalty shootout win against Lille in the French Cup last night, the 23-year-old said it was unlikely that he would be moving during the January transfer window:

“I am a Lyon player and I will remain so until the end of the season. I do not think that there will be a departure this winter. Lots of things are being said. It is up to me to ignore that and remain concentrated on the pitch.”

Blues boss Frank Lampard has said the club are looking for a new forward this month. The ankle injury sustained by Tammy Abraham against Arsenal yesterday evening will almost certainly speed up their efforts.

However, it seems likely that Dembele will not be the one arriving at Stamford Bridge in January. Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas has also stated that the Frenchman won’t be allowed to leave before the summer so it does appear that Chelsea will have to look elsewhere to find a striker.

Lampard has also hinted that the club may look for a short-term solution during the current window, suggesting that a loan deal may well be on the cards rather than spending a significant amount in the transfer market.
