Mourinho Still Focusing On Top Four Despite Topping Table

The Blues started in third position at the beginning of Saturday but results elsewhere meant that they stand at the top of the pile after 25 games played. Eden Hazard’s hat-trick inspired Chelsea to a comfortable 3-0 win over Newcastle, with both Arsenal and Manchester City dropping points against Liverpool and Norwich respectively.

But Mourinho, who called his team a little horse chasing its rivals, has remained defiant over his team’s title chances. According to TEAMtalk, Mourinho believes his side are still not title contenders with their aim solely being to finish inside the top four this season.

He said, “I want to stop with that story of the horses, but I don’t change my idea. Manchester City is a Jaguar. You cannot put an L-plate behind a Jaguar. We are what we are and we know where we want to go and this season. We have only one objective, which is to finish top four.”

He added, “I say as I feel it. I don’t feel the change. We are playing well and have been for a long time. People individually are in a good moment and we are getting results. We are top of the league and that’s something we can’t hide.”
