Mourinho Shows Respect And Friendship Towards Wenger

Jose Mourinho’s return to the Barclays Premier League was always going to bring unexpected interviews with the press, and the Portuguese manager has unexpectedly been full of praise for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Chelsea supporters would be very pleased with owner Roman Abramovich, not only for supporting every manager with funds, but also for convincing Mourinho into a second stint at the club. Mourinho, who is also referred to as ‘The Special One’, returns to Stamford Bridge after achieving serious success at some of the world’s top clubs. A position at Real Madrid is undoubtedly the pinnacle of every manager’s career, and Mourinho has achieved all major trophies for the clubs he has managed. His man management skills have been praised by many players, and the results are there for all to see.

Mourinho has always been a manager who has let players know about his opinion, but has always encouraged them to perform to the best of their abilities. Frank Lampard, who was referred by Mourinho as one of the best professionals in the world, is a prime example of how a manager can influence a player’s career. The England international has undoubtedly been one of the country’s most consistent players over the past decade, and recently achieved the record of the top goalscorer in Chelsea history.

Wenger on the other hand has not always been positive about Chelsea’s spending spree ever since Abramovich took over. The Frenchman has not been privileged with the same transfer kitty, but has managed to build an efficient squad from available resources. Wenger was initially linked with the job at Paris St. Germain, which was vacant due to then boss Carlo Ancelotti replacing Mourinho at Madrid. However, Wenger was promised a big transfer kitty this summer, and decided to extend his stay at the club, and give another go at ending the long period without a trophy for the Gunners.

According to Daily Mail, Mourinho has suggested that he has immense respect for Wenger, who after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement became the current most experienced manager in the Premier League.

Mourinho said, “He’s a very nice guy,”

“When I left England, I started meeting him at UEFA, the Euros, the World Cup, and we had dinner [together]. When you are not in the same league and playing against each other, it is easier to know people [better]. “

“It was with other coaches, in UEFA, in Europe, so it was in a good, nice atmosphere and I enjoyed speaking with him about football. He is a person with a big culture, very open. I respect him a lot and I will show my respect always.”
