Jose Mourinho marked his return to London from Real Madrid by completing a couple of signings in the first few weeks. He has already signed German attacker Andre Schurrle and midfielder Marco van Ginkel. Chelsea are also heavily linked with United’s Rooney.

The England international is understood to be unhappy at Old Trafford and is seeking a move away with his first preference being to stay in England, hence moving to one of United’s domestic rivals. Thus, the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal have been touted to make a move for the versatile attacker. Both the clubs possess the financial backing this summer to pull off this deal, so he could move to either of these two London rivals.

Jose Mourinho has made it very clear that Chelsea’s total priority this summer is Wayne Rooney as the Independent reports that according to Mourinho it really is a case of “Rooney or nothing”. Therefore the resulting bid by Chelsea for Rooney, believed to be in the £20million region came as no surprise. Chelsea are reportedly willing to match the £250,000 per week wages that he is getting at Old Trafford.

When asked during a press conference in Indonesia, at the suggestion of Chelsea and Mourinho operating in an underhanded way or not following the correct procedures, when talking about his current squad and the situation with Rooney, Mourinho said, “We did what we had to do in a proper way, in an ethical way, and we’re happy with our behaviour. It was clean. Now I keep doing what I’m doing, working with my players, trying to improve my players, and we’ll see what happens. Now he’s not with us. He’s with Man United, not with us.”

Well this story keeps geting more and more headlines and where there is smoke there is fire so expect Rooney to be on the move this summer with West London being his likely destination.
