Mourinho Points Out Possible Unlawful FIFA Involvement In Voting Mechanism

Jose Mourinho recently pointed out the fact that corruption is not an uncommon thing among FIFA’s managerial staff, regardless of who they represent and what their main purpose is. Even though a lot of people suspected some of the awards given out by FIFA were already known before the actual voting took place, no proof was ever taken seriously. According to The Guardian though, Mourinho might be one of the first to direct the authorities towards another flawed mechanism run within the organization’s boundaries. Choosing where trophies like “Best player” or “Best Manager” go might not sound as too big of a deal to some but it is actually something that can generate a lot of money if the right people win.

Back in 2012 apparently when Vicente del Bosque won, Mourinho who was with Real Madrid, received a lot of notifications that the vote was rigged. Apparently both players and other voters had their choice modified before the results were made public. Despite the fact that the Portuguese boss did not hold a grudge he still wanted to point out the fact that Sepp Blatter’s way of running FIFA was not  nearly as clean as it should have been. Having the power to influence such awards could just as in the case of auctioning the World Cup generate incredible amounts of money especially from companies who put a lot of work into endorsements. Having your player or the team that wears your logo win FIFA’s most important awards could lead to massive revenue but influence the outcome of some competitions that might actually mean something for some players like Terry or Lampard who give it their all and might deserve recognition at some point.
