Mourinho More Than Satisfied WIth New Signings So Far

Jose Mourinho claims he is happy with the business Chelsea have managed to achieve so far in the summer, which has included the purchase of Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen, Marco van Ginkel from Vitesse, and Mark Schwarzer on a free from Fulham.

The former Real Madrid manager made a remarkable return to Stamford Bridge, a club he has always had fond memories of, and the fans were delighted to welcome the ‘Special One’ back to London once again. His first stint at the club saw the squad win consecutive Barclays Premier League trophies, and the supporters are excited about his second run at the Chelsea hot seat. Mourinho has vowed to achieve trophies this season, and is working behind the scenes to ensure the squad are in the best shape possible at the start of the new campaign.

However, delighted as he is about his return, it has not been an easy summer for Mourinho, losing vital transfer targets to other European clubs. Times have changed from his first stint, and Chelsea are no longer the only club with heavy financial muscle. Clubs like Monaco, Paris St. Germain and Manchester City have been splashing the cash to buy the best talents in the world.

Mourinho had Radamel Falcao as one of his top targets for the summer, after the striker performed exceptionally against the Blues in last year’s UEFA Super Cup, but lost out on the Colombian to Monaco, who were prepared to deal with the third party contract.

Another target in Mourinho’s wish list is Edinson Cavani, who has been involved in the FIFA Confederations Cup with Uruguay. The striker is keen on a move, with Madrid, PSG and Chelsea interested, but a decision has yet not been made on his future. Napoli want the maximum transfer fee possible, with new boss Rafa Benitez planning on buying players with the funds from Cavani’s transfer.

According to London Evening Standard, Mourinho is satisfied by the signings that have been completed so far by the club. Attacker Schurrle and midfielder van Ginkel are exciting prospects, with the experience of Schwarzer also significant.

Mourinho said, “Andre Schurrle is still so young but he already has great history because he plays in his national team, he has played Champions League and he played three complete seasons for Leverkusen,”

“So he is a player who is absolutely ready and he gives us more than one position in attack and adds quality. He will be important for us.”

“Marco van Ginkel is one of the best prospects. He is not yet like Schurrle – close to being a finished product – but he is a player with great potential.”

“Mark Schwarzer is what we need. I never say this one is the first choice and this one is the second and this one is the third, but of course as a starting point Petr Cech is Petr Cech – he is the best in the world with deference to all the others and Mark knows that he comes to be an important member of the squad.”

Mourinho makes total sense when speaking abut the new boys and you can’t help but feel optimistic the more you here from Jose as he prepares for life with Chelsea this time around. Bring on the new season!
