Mourinho Gets Apology From Premier League Official

Jose Mourinho received an apology from Barclays Premier League official referee Anthony Taylor right after Chelsea’s disappointing draw against Southampton at St. Mary’s, on the back of Taylor wrongly giving Cesc Fabregas a yellow card for diving while replays showed the midfielder had been tripped by the defender, according to the Daily Mail.

Chelsea will breathe a sigh of relief after the order of results on Sunday which saw Manchester United draw against Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester City also picking up just one point against Burnley at the Etihad Stadium. The Blues were down against Southampton when the hosts scored a goal in the first half to install a sense of optimism in the stadium. The excitement was short-lived as Eden Hazard brought the visitors back into the game just before half time as the Belgian used his skills to convert an excellent assist from Fabregas and equalise for the London based club. The second half was where controversy took over, as Chelsea began dominating majority of the play, and Fabregas took control of the ball inside the penalty area, when he was tripped by a Southampton defender. The Spaniard reacted in aguish looking for a penalty but the referee decided Fabregas had dived, and instead booked the former Barcelona player.

Mourinho faces a difficult trip to White Hart Lane on Thursday when city rivals Spurs will try and stop Chelsea from increasing their lead at the top.
