Mourinho ‘Confident’ That He Can Seal Deal For £25m Rated Chelsea Defender

Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho is “confident” that he can persuade Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, according to the Express.

Spurs are reportedly lining up a £25m bid for the centre-back when the transfer window opens, with Mourinho keen on working with the player again following his second spell as Blues boss.

Zouma has moved up and down the pecking under manager Frank Lampard this season, but he is currently back in favour, having started the last two league games.

It would, therefore, be unlikely that Chelsea would consider offloading the 25-year-old for as little as £25m.

The financial climate may have hit Zouma’s valuation somewhat, while the Blues may also consider him as expendable as they look to raise funds for Kai Havertz, but there are a number of other names in the squad who will likely be offloaded first.

Even if the France international were allowed to leave, Lampard would almost certainly want to bring in a replacement anyway.
