Chelsea have been at the very center of transfer speculation ever since the January transfer window swung open. It all started with Juan Mata’s substitution in Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Southampton, which did not go down well with the Spaniard. His outburst was well publicised, which led to Mourinho’s admission that the midfielder is free to leave the club if he wishes.

A lot of news has been flying around since, which is linking the 25-year old to the likes of Manchester United and PSG. A recent report stated that Mata was set for crunch talks with Mourinho, something which has been denied by the Portugese. When asked about the rumoured talks at the weekend, he denied them, saying, “No, and today he trained in a fantastic way, so I think he focused more in what I talked after the game at Southampton.”

“He was happy with the victory, so today he trained in a fantastic way. I keep saying that I want him to say.”

Apart from the entire Mata saga, Chelsea found themselves involved in yet another story regarding a failed £50 million for Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain. When asked about the bid, Mourinho shot it down as ESPNFC report him as saying, “No. No bid. No,”

“He’s a player that I know we cannot get. He’s a player that moved from Real to Napoli six months ago. He’s doing very well, he’s adapting very well to Italy. Napoli is a club that normally doesn’t sell.”

“I think now in the Europa League they want to win that, so I don’t believe they are interested in selling Higuain.”

Chelsea has been at the centre of the early transfer speculation, which is customary considering their past January activities with Torres and the like, but this January a striker signing is unlikely if we are to believe what we are hearing from Jose.
