Mourinho Claims 123M Rated Chelsea Target Is “At The Same Level As Drogba” But Pinpoints Player’s Major Failing

Ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has compared Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to Blues legend Didier Drogba but he has told the Nigerian international to cut out the diving.

Osimhen scored against Mourinho’s Roma in a 2-1 win at the weekend. Speaking after the match, though, the Portuguese manager was clearly unhappy with the player’s theatrics, whilst also praising his ability:

“He is of the same level as Drogba, but Didier didn’t dive. If Victor changes, then OK. I’d buy him if I was at a club with a lot of money. However, if he does go to England one day, he needs to change, because in Italy they put up with this sort of behaviour, whereas in the Premier League, they’d come down hard on him.”

“I told him that he scored a wonderful goal and needs to stop diving so much. His goal was fantastic, he did the same thing when we met earlier this season, so he’s a fantastic player. But he mustn’t dive.”

It is believed that Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are all keeping tabs on Osimhen, who has scored 15 goals in 20 appearances for Napoli so far this campaign.

A January transfer was never on the cards, with the 24-year-old keen to see out the season in Italy as his club closes in on the Serie A title.

However, Osimhen is expected to be available next summer, with his asking price expected to be as high as €140m (£123m). Considering Chelsea’s willingness to splash the cash, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they do break their transfer record in order to secure the player’s signature.
