Mourinho Agrees Chelsea Deal!

Mourinho announced his arrival in world football when winning the Champions League with unfancied Porto in 2004 and then enjoyed a trophy-laden spell with the Blues from 2004-07 that cemented his self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ status at the club.

He won two Premier League medals and four domestic trophies in all with Chelsea, but his tumultuous relationship with club owner Roman Abramovich ultimately culminated in his departure. He has since then managed the likes of Inter Milan and now Madrid, but has repeatedly insisted he would like to come back to England one day.

And this day is set to occur this summer since Abramovich has apparently mended his relationship with Mourinho. A report in the Mirror states that the pair have agreed a deal in principal to bring the Portuguese tactician back to Chelsea on a three-year-deal. However, there are still some hurdles to overcome before a deal takes place.

Mourinho likes to have total control at a club and has reservations in joining the Blues since technical director Michael Emenalo and chief executive Ron Gourlay hold all the power. He has also insisted that Chelsea must finish in the top-four.

Also, the report states that Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has struck a similar deal with French outfit PSG, who are set to axe Carlo Ancelotti if he doesn’t deliver the Ligue 1 title.

If a deal falls through, Abramovich is keen to re-unite with ex Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink, who came to his aid to serve as a caretaker manager in 2009, while continuing his duties as coach of Russia. The Dutchman, currently managing Anzhi Makhachkala, is out of contract in the summer and favours a move back to England.

But Mourinho wants to quit Spain for England, and recently admitted that he was guilty of fuelling speculation linking him with the Chelsea post. The 50-year-old hasn’t denied that he has emotional bonds with Chelsea and his family like London with his daughter due to study in the English capital plus they still retain a London home. Blues fans will certainly rejoice if he follows his daughter to London and is once again named as the manager of Chelsea in the summer.
