Mourinho After Khedira Again?

Mourinho After Khedira Again?

According to the Express, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is not content with the strength in his squad’s midfield and is interested in signing his former Real Madrid player Sami Khedira from the Spanish capital in the summer.

Madrid’s current attack includes Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, the pair being of the best in the world, and will need an effective defensive midfield for the flair players to depend on. Given the recent acquisition of Nemanja Matic from Benfica, it remains unclear whether Mourinho would want to add another midfielder to his armoury. However, Matic’s recent years at Benfica have seen him attack more often than a defensive minded midfielder should, which could convince Mourinho to add to his options.

Mourinho’s comeback season with Chelsea has been full of twists and turns, but the Portuguese manager has prevailed victorious on most occasions. The Barclays Premier League currently sees Chelsea in first, with Arsenal and Manchester City following closely in the next two positions.

Khedira’s World Cup performances for Germany in Brazil could be the deciding factor for his future at Madrid. However, Mourinho’s was the one to convince former President Fiorentino Perez to buy Khedira, and with another wealthy owner in Roman Abramovich, the manager could demand the same again.
