Mourinho Admits Lampard Irreplaceable At Chelsea

Jose Mourinho has admitted despite the arrival of several new recruits like Cesc Fabregas, that Frank Lampard’s impact in the Chelsea midfield cannot be replicated by any other player, according to the recent article in the Daily Mail.

Chelsea have managed to bolster their squad with new talent, nearly marking an end to an era of the long serving players. Ashley Cole and Lampard both had stuck with the club for the long term, and have now made moves abroad. While Cole was signed by Italian giants AS Roma, Lampard made the move across the channel to the newly founded New York Football Club. However, the football community was taken by surprise when his new club announced that the player will be heading back to Manchester City for a short loan period until January.

Lampard has undoubtedly been one of Chelsea’s most loyal players over the past decade, ever since joining the club from West Ham United in 2001. Having made 429 appearances in the Barclays Premier League, Lampard scored 147 goals. The 36-year old has also been a regular in the England national squad, earning 106 senior caps with 29 goals scored in the process. His special bond with Mourinho was instrumental in the club winning consecutive Premier League titles. Fabregas has been bought by Mourinho this summer as a potential replacement for Lampard, and the Spaniard has his work cut out for him next season filling the legendary Lampard’s boots.
