Mount Speaks Out On Where He’ll Be Playing His Football Next Season

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount says he isn’t thinking about where he will be playing his football next season.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Derby County until the end of the campaign and wants to focus on the Rams’ push for a playoff place:

“It’s not on my mind at the moment, my focus is fully on these last games and trying to get Derby in the best place, and get us promotion. That was our goal from the beginning, and that stays my goal.”

Derby are eighth in the Championship, five points off Bristol City in sixth place with six games to go. As a follow-up question, Mount was asked if he would consider returning to Pride Park. He replied:

“I don’t know, I haven’t had any thought about next season and my future. We have got some important games coming up and my focus is 100% on that, and 100% on Derby this season.”

With Chelsea’s transfer ban, the Blues may want to keep Mount next season, unless the sanctions are lifted in an appeal which is currently being heard by FIFA.

The midfielder has been an influential player for Frank Lampard’s side, having scored seven goals and contributed five assists in 35 appearances.

Mount’s absence from the team due to a hamstring injury earlier this year coincided with Derby winning just two matches in nine, denting their chances of promotion. He returned to the team scoring a goal and providing two assists in a 6-1 win over Rotherham last month.
