Mount And Emerson To Start: Chelsea’s Predicted XI To Face Liverpool

Chelsea have a number of injuries heading into today’s game against Liverpool but Mason Mount gave manager Frank Lampard a boost by returning to training yesterday.

In defence,  the Blues boss may opt to keep with Fikayo Tomori, Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma as the three centre-backs. Emerson is back in contention after a thigh injury so could replace Marcos Alonso in the left wingback role.

N’Golo Kante is back fit but Lampard has already said that he’ll look to ease the Frenchman back into first-team action, so Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho are likely to be picked in midfield.

Up front, Willian has started the last two games so he is likely to be given the nod ahead of Christian Pulisic and Pedro, and Mount will also start if he proves his fitness.

After seven goals in his last three league appearances, Tammy Abraham will continue to lead the line and will hope to lay the rest his penalty miss in the UEFA Super Cup final last month by getting on the scoresheet today.

Chelsea’s Predicted XI To Face Liverpool:

Kepa, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Christensen, Tomori, Emerson, Jorginho, Kovacic, Willian, Abraham, Mount
