Mourinho spoke about the problems the club is currently facing when it comes to both defensive and offensive lines. Chelsea look inefficient and amateurish at times because they are missing a world class scorer to make the most out of Mata, Oscar or Hazard’s assists. Torres, Eto’o and Demba Ba put together did not manage to score as much as Aguero or Suarez. It is a real shame that none of the three are able to do their job properly especially considering how much support they get from the brilliant midfielders Chelsea has.
According to Metro, Mourinho does not expect his strikers to score as much as Suarez or Aguero mostly because they have different profiles. Even the Portuguese manager mentioned it would be of great help for the team if any of the three found their form. Unfortunately for the club, it looks like Demba Ba is ready to leave, Eto’o is slowly adapting to the Premier League and Torres is never going to be what he once was.
Chelsea’s boss insisted on the fact that he needs team players rather than individuals but that is hard to believe considering how keen Mourinho seems to be on bringing in Falcao or Rooney who are the type of footballers that can carry a whole team on their backs.
The Blues will more than likely sign a new player this winter despite what Chelsea’s manager has said. During the same press conference he expressed his desire to win at least one trophy this year which looks a bit difficult when your defenders have scored just as many goals as your strikers.
On the other hand, Mourinho may wait until the summer to see if Everton’s Romelu Lukaku can become the new Stamford Bridge star striker fans have been expecting. The Belgian international has had an amazing season up until now and might just be the perfect solution for Chelsea’s attack. His loan will expire at the end of the season when he will return to play for the Blues. The 20 year old although young, has a lot of experience playing in the Premier League and has proven one of the most efficient strikers in English football.
